Qualifications
A Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Register Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) with experience in coding inpatient and outpatient records
3 years ICD-9-CM/CPT coding experience and a working knowledge of MS-DRGs, Peer Review Organization/HCFA Regulation
Previous experience with software (3M Encoders, MS-DRG, HBOC Abstracting) preferred.
Knowledge of government and private payor practices, regulations, standards and reimbursement.

Permanent Opportunity

• 5+ years as an Inpatient Coder of a large bed acute care facility
• 5+ years as an Ambulatory / Day Surgery Coder; Ambulatory surgery type of encounters spanning all disciplines including: complex ENT, GI, Orthopedics, GYN, Urology, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Vascular and others, (accurately assigning ICD-9CM procedure & diagnosis codes and CPT-4/modifiers for facility coding.)

Only veteran credentialed coder candidates with at least 5 years acute care hospital experience will be considered. Ability to code long lengths of stay and complex case mix is required. Coding from electronic documentation the expectation is coding 20 charts per 8 hour shift. 95% DRG accuracy is required.
